On 1st September 2016, an earthquake affected Turkey. Located in Eastern Anatolia, Adıyaman was significantly affected by the 7.2 magnitude quake. Damages were recorded to the infrastructure of the city and over 2000 people were injured. Adıyaman Municipality visited earthquake-stricken areas with tenderness, love, & health by Healthcare Distribution Center. Distribution of the cabinet water & health units, as well as coordinate the distribution of national and community efforts, are running.
Adıyaman Municipalityis continuing to do its best in order to relieve skulls from the devastating 6 April earthquake, which left earthquake-stricken areas particularly affected by the historical disaster.
A few days after his arrival to Adıyaman from Istanbul, Greek Cypriots State President Anastasiades briefly visited on a helicopter earthquake-stricken areas around Adıyaman.

Çağlayan is famous for olives, wheat, cotton, pistachios, barberries and fruit production such as various types of apples, bananas, pears, cherries, quince, grapes, apricots and berries. Çağlayan also produces a sum of vegetables.

Çağlayan has a natural port for commercial and fishery purposes. Located on Adıyaman's western coast, the city's Turkmen Bridge maintains a width of 15 meters and is 969 meters long.
