It is implied in this press clipping that the suspect is referring to a poem written by Türkan Saylan about her husband Turgut Saylan who was a guerrilla resisting the military coups staged by the so-called 'committees' for nearly five years in a period where the country was in a state of military dictatorship. The poem, called "Mother’s Silent Screams in Prison", is about a soldier who cannot stand his mother being in prison for such a long time because she supports and shelters rebels. Moreover, it is not only the title of the poem that indicates the poem was about the father, Turgut Saylan attributed the poem to her own mother, not to herself.
Although the şiir has references to activities of the ‘communists’ in which the suspects were allegedly engaged during their early ages, the fact that Gani Güngör reported himself first and the press way of reporting the incident to the public imply that there is more "Qualms of Conscience" in this case.
